Metabolic Research
Retatrutide
Retatrutide is a synthetic peptide studied for coordinated activation of three metabolic hormone receptors, with human research examining glucose regulation, appetite, body weight and liver fat.
ARA-290, also known as cibinetide, is an erythropoietin-derived peptide studied in tissue-protection models and small human trials of sarcoidosis-associated neuropathy.

Erythropoietin-derived signaling peptide
ARA-290 belongs to an 11-amino-acid peptide design derived from the exposed surface of erythropoietin's helix B. The design sought to separate tissue-protective signaling from the red-cell-production effects of intact erythropoietin. Structural similarity does not make the two molecules interchangeable.

The proposed mechanism involves a receptor complex containing the erythropoietin receptor and the common beta receptor subunit CD131, often called the innate repair receptor. Preclinical work linked related helix-B-surface peptides to reduced injury responses without stimulating erythropoiesis in the tested systems.
Foundational studies examined helix-B-derived peptides in cell and rodent injury models, including ischemia and peripheral nerve injury. These experiments supplied a biological rationale for separating cytoprotection from red-cell stimulation, rather than proving a general repair effect in humans. [1]
A small placebo-controlled pilot trial enrolled people with sarcoidosis-associated small-fiber neuropathy. Some symptom measures favored ARA-290, while other pain and fatigue measures improved similarly in both groups. This mixed pattern is important when interpreting the early clinical signal. [2]
A later blinded study examined neuropathy symptoms and corneal small-nerve-fiber measures. An associated erratum corrected the numerical scaling of nerve-fiber-area calculations. Structural measurements remain distinct from demonstrating durable, generalized nerve regeneration or benefit in unrelated neuropathies. [3]
Study topics describe the cited models, not established benefits of this catalog material.
The cited human studies provide exploratory findings in a specific disease-associated neuropathy population. Their results support further investigation, but sample size, follow-up and endpoint selection limit broad conclusions. Mechanistic animal evidence should not be presented as an established human treatment effect.
Patient-reported outcomes can change with nonspecific trial effects, and imaging biomarkers need careful methodological interpretation. The corrected nerve-area calculations should be used when reviewing numerical results. Clinical study preparations do not validate WYZ material quality or establish equivalent pharmacology, exposure or safety.
